Did you know that many of our menu items were created by our team members working in our restaurant locations?  If not, well we have someone for you to meet!

Meet Bess, the kitchen manager from our flagship location in downtown Lancaster.  Bess has worked for Isaac’s for 36 years in various positions, in various locations.  She also was the face of Isaac’s “Get Soup! Give Soup!” Campaign for several years!

Before starting her career with us she had dined with us before; she would stop by the downtown Lancaster store when visiting her mom in the city.  Her very first Isaac’s sandwich was the Loon:  a tuna salad sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes in a pita pocket.

Bess first came to work Isaac’s in March of 1988 while completing her senior year of college at Millersville University.  She had given a friend of hers a ride to That Fish Place, That Pet Place, and while she was there saw a sign that our Centerville Rd. location was hiring.  She decided to apply and the rest, as they say, was history.

During her tenure with Isaac’s Bess spent many years as the Assistant General Manager of our Greenfield Road location.  It was while she was there that Bess concocted the soup that Isaac’s is most well-known for:  our Famous Pepperjack Tomato Soup.

The Pepperjack Tomato Soup had humble beginnings:  it started off as a cheesy tomato soup that Bess created at the request of the after-church crowd that would fill up the Greenfield Rd. location on Sundays.  When we added Pepperjack Cheese to the sandwich menu, Bess knew that that was the thing that would really set it off.

Thank you, Bess, for 36 incredible years!
